Dear UCSB Student:
Mortar Board is a national honor society that recognizes college
seniors for academic excellence, outstanding leadership abilities, and
unwavering commitment to community service. Mortar Board was
established in 1918 and the University of California at Santa Barbara
Chapter was founded in 1965. The society boasts more than 200 active
chapters and 50 alumni chapters nationwide and has initiated more than
200,000 college seniors, including Secretary of State Condoleezza
Rice. Today, we welcome you and invite you to share our tradition.
We are currently accepting nominations for the 2007-2008 school year.
Students are selected on the basis of their academic records,
extracurricular activities, and community service involvement. To be
considered for Mortar Board, nominees must have a minimum 3.3
cumulative grade point average, senior standing (135 or more units) by
the beginning of the fall 2007 quarter, and not be graduating before
December 2007. Please see the attachment for more information.
Sincerely,
Mary Nguyen
