<pre>Hi Rose and Catherine,

UCSB Street Health Outreach
We need volunteers!
Project Healthy Neighbors is an annual health fair for the homeless
held at the re-opening of the winter services at Casa Esperanza, a
local shelter in downtown Santa Barbara. It is a three-day event,
held from 8-11:30am on Nov. 26, 27, 28. Doctors, nurses, and
volunteers from the Public Health Dept., Alcohol Drug & Mental Health
Dept., Doctors Without Walls, Cottage Hospital, and other
organizations will be present providing multiple services for the
homeless. Various stations will be set up, providing vaccinations,
HIV and TB testing, skin evaluations, mental health evaluations,
alcohol and drug counseling, as well as Medi-Cal and veterans’
benefits counseling. Volunteers (student or non-student) are needed to
guide homeless patients to and from each of these stations, depending
on patients’ individual needs. Many of these homeless are nervous and
can be easily frightened or confused. Having someone guide them
through the fair has proven to be invaluable. 10-15 volunteers are
needed for each of the 3 mornings of the fair, and the only
requirements are a patient and kind attitude. Thank you so much for
your help. If you would like to participate, please contact: Maggie
Jolley at <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:streethealthoutreach@gmail.com">streethealthoutreach@gmail.com</a> or call (805) 625-3680.
Thanks again.
