invites community members to make a difference by becoming a Sexual
Assault
Counselor! The next Crisis Intervention Training in English begins on
September 25<sup>th</sup> and ends on November 15<sup>th</sup>. The
course takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:00pm --
10:00pm.
Applications are due on Friday, September 14<sup>th</sup>. <o:p></o:p></p>

Training Coordinator, said, “The greatest gift you can give a survivor
is
your time and compassion. You don’t have to be an expert in these
issues to begin the training, but just be willing to learn about how
you can
make a difference in a survivor’s empowerment and healing.”
After completing the 60-hour training, volunteers will be
state-certified as
Sexual Assault Counselors. As such, they will provide emotional
support
and information to survivors and their loved ones through SBRCC’s
24-hour
Hotline and in-person counseling, as well as providing accompaniment
and
advocacy services. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to join
the
SBRCC Speakers’ Bureau to work to end sexual violence through community
education.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
