<pre>Attention Undergraduate Advisors:
I am the Peer Advisor for UCSB's Washington DC Program, UCDC. We would like
to get the word out about the program to every major throughout the campus.
I would appreciate if you could forward the following email (with the
attachment) to the undergraduates in your program, as well as print and
post a copy of the attached flyer.
The deadline for UCDC applications has been extended to April 23rd. This is
the final deadline for Fall 2007 and the early application deadline for
Winter 2008.
The UCSB Washington Program offers a special opportunity for upper-division
students to undertake an internship in our nation's capital while receiving
full academic credit for the quarter.
In recent years students have had successful internships at the Supreme
Court, the White House, the State Department, and many Congressional
offices (particularly those of Senators and Representatives from
California). However, not all the internships involve traditional kinds of
government service. Students have interned at the Smithsonian museums, a
wide range of non-governmental organizations and advocacy groups,
private-sector businesses, law offices, brokerage firms, consulting
companies, media outlets, and research laboratories. The UCSB Washington
Program assists students in finding appropriate internships and Program
faculty and staff are committed to working one-on-one with our students to
make their experiences in Washington academically rewarding and
career-enhancing.
Students in all the UC Washington Programs live in a state-of-the-art
residential facility in downtown DC. The building is within easy walking
distance of the Metro subway system, in the beautiful Dupont Circle
neighborhood. The UC Washington Center sponsors a variety of lectures,
excursions, and other activities that are open to all members of the UC
Washington community.
The Washington Program will be accepting up to 31 students for each quarter
of the 2007-08 academic year. You can get information on how to apply from
the UCDC web site, <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="http://www.ltsc.ucsb.edu/urca/ucdc.php">www.ltsc.ucsb.edu/urca/ucdc.php</a> or by contacting the
UCDC Peer at 893-3090 or <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:ucdc@ltsc.ucsb.edu">ucdc@ltsc.ucsb.edu</a>.
