corresponding lab section this quarter – ESM 219 and 219L - Microbial
Processes in the Environment. The lecture class is offered Mon/Wed from

about the most abundant organisms on Earth---microbes. The lab is your
chance

for doing, when learning is
the goal! The course exposes you first hand to what microbes are and
what they

style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Lab exercises are towards
learning:<u1:p></u1:p></span></font><o:p></o:p><font color="black"

microbial world? How do we figure
that out? How many are there? What is the diversity of the microbial
world?
What do those microbes do---i.e. cycle Carbon, cycle Nitrogen,
biodegrade
pollutants, etc? (You get to watch them in action) How are they,
themselves,
pollutants and how do we determine that?<u1:p></u1:p></span></font><o:p></o:p></p>
