</span>We have 2 offices, one located in <st1:City w:st="on">Oak Park</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">California</st1:State> and the
second in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">La Paz</st1:City>, <st1:State
w:st="on">Baja California</st1:State> <st1:country-region w:st="on">Sur.</st1:country-region></st1:place><span
style=""> </span>Our mission is the conservation sharks, rays
and their habitats internationally.<span style=""> </span>We
achieve this through research, environmental education and the
promotion of
sustainable management policy and marine protected areas. <span
style=""> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: black;">We currently have 4
programs.<span style=""> </span>Adoptashark.com and Shark Smart
provide shark
environmental education and outreach allowing the public to be involved
in
shark research.<span style=""> </span>Our Baja Shark
Fishermen’s Network encourages sustainable fishing and management of
resources
within Baja fishing communities.<span style=""> </span>Our
Manta Mexico program is a research and educational program focused on
the giant
manta ray. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

Semester: January (date open) - July </p>

of extension</p>

in a 2-week <st1:City w:st="on">La Paz</st1:City>, <st1:country-region
w:st="on">Mexico</st1:country-region>
exchange, working with our <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region
w:st="on">Mexico</st1:country-region></st1:place>
office.<span style=""> </span>Includes, flight, accommodations
and per diem (dates to be arrange with intern).<span style="">
</span>Our <st1:country-region w:st="on">Mexico</st1:country-region>
office is
located in downtown <st1:City w:st="on">La Paz</st1:City> on the
boardwalk,
facing the beautiful <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Sea</st1:PlaceType>
of <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Cortez</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>.<span
style=""> </span>Intern will have free time to scuba dive,
kayak, surf, and the chance to travel to shark fishing communities in
other
parts of Baja. </p>

Commitment:<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="">6
months. Minimum of 1 day (8 hours) (possibility to divide hours between
two
days) each week in the IEMANYA Oak Park office, additional special
events
attendance, as needed.</p>

of Position:<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="">The IEMANYA
internship program is designed to introduce college-age</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="">Individuals
(Juniors, Seniors, graduate students) to working in the non-profit
sector of
marine conservation.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style=""><b>Supervisor:

<p class="MsoNormal" style=""><b>Duties:<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<ol style="margin-top: 0in;" start="1" type="1">
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">General administrative support</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Process orders for merchandise and
educational materials</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Respond to phone, e-mail and in-person
information requests</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Conduct seminars for local and
visiting school and dive groups</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Write articles for website and
newsletter</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Special event support (planning and
during the event) such as fundraisers and environmental festivals and
events</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Assist with media and web marketing</li>

<p class="MsoNormal" style=""><b>Qualifications:<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<ol style="margin-top: 0in;" start="1" type="1">
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">High degree of motivation</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Enthusiasm for the marine environment
and sharks.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Good computer skills mandatory –
particularly, Word, Excel, Powerpoint</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Good people and communication skills.
We work with the general public on a continual basis.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Ability to develop timeframes and the
complete tasks within timeframes. </li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Team player who can also work well
independently</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Excellent organizational skills.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Excellent communication skills:
verbal, written, presentation.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="">Spanish speaker a plus.</li>
