name is Dixie McCulloch, and I am the program assistant to Columbia
University’s new Amgen Scholars Program. The Amgen Scholars Program
is sponsored by a grant received this year from the Amgen Corporation.
This grant provides $4,000 stipends plus board to 26 undergraduates to
perform biology-related research in laboratories at Columbia University
and Barnard College. In addition to working on original research,
the students meet weekly with other undergraduates performing research at
Columbia University to discuss and present their work. The Amgen
