Field Internship Position Available For Spring 2007
<br>

Job Description: Field assistant needed to help PhD student studying <br>
ecophysiology of crustose coralline algae (CCA) in American Samoa, on <br>
both Tutuila and Ofu islands. Project focuses on photosynthetic <br>
response of CCA under different environmental conditions. Position <br>
includes set-up and installation of experiment, assistance in the <br>
field taking measurements, equipment maintenance, and data entry. <br>
Position starts February 12, 2007 and ends May 27, 2007 (02/12/07- <br>
05/27/07). If desired, assistant will have the opportunity to develop <br>
their own research project.

Room, board, return airfare to American Samoa from Honolulu and a <br>
stipend of $750.00 are provided. Successful applicant must provide <br>
own way to Hawaii.

Qualifications: Assistant must be willing to spend long hours in the <br>
water, often under conditions of high currents, in a remote location. <br>
Applicants must be in good physical condition, with surfing <br>
experience and/or experience in high current environments highly <br>
desirable. Current SCUBA certification, with AAUS certification or <br>
eligibility to dive with Federal agencies highly desirable. Must be <br>
able to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles. <br>
Bachelor’s degree in a marine science desired, but not required. <br>
Applicant must have current passport, valid for at least 9 months <br>
from date of entry into American Samoa.
