JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Title: Summer Camp Instructor
Classification: Full-time & Part time, Temporary
Department: Education/Children?s Programs
Reports To: Children?s Program Manager
Position Summary: The Summer Camp Instructors work with the
Children?s Programs Manager and other lead and assistant instructors
in camps of natural history programs for children ages 4-12.
Specific Responsibilities:
ß Work with Children?s Programs Manager, other lead instructors, and
assistant instructors
ß Interface with parents during check-in and checkout periods
ß Maintain appropriate control of class during sessions
ß Supervise the assistant instructors during sessions
ß Supervise, manage, and teach group activities
ß Other duties as needed
Essential Requirements:
ß Experience in leading classroom based informal educational programs
or related work
ß Strong organizational and leadership skills
ß Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
ß Ability to work unsupervised
ß Self-motivated and creative
ß Dependable, reliable
Work Environment:
ß Standard educational classroom environment
ß Outdoor environment, including creek and trail exploration
ß Some hiking
ß Lifting, up to 15 lbs.
ß Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting
Full-time and part-time temporary positions are available at both the
Mission Creek campus of the Museum and the Ty Warner Sea Center.
Camps are scheduled between June 23 and August 22.
Salary: $10 - $15/hr
