Several volunteer positions are now open to undergraduate students
interested in gaining research experience. The research addresses
reproductive strategies of male birds. Starting immediately, I am in
need of several motivated and detail-oriented students to assist in the
analysis of plumage patterns from digital images of birds and in the
transcription of singing behavior by male birds from audio recordings.
You will be trained to do the work, but a basic understanding of
computers and using Microsoft Excel is required. A minimum commitment of
5 hours per week is required, but you can make your own hours.

If you are interested in helping out, please reply to Michael Kuehn
(avian27 at yahoo.com) and indicate (1) when you can begin, (2) the number
of hours you can work in the lab per week, (3) whether you will stay at
UCSB over the summer and could help then, and (4) whether you have any
research experience at UCSB (with or for whom did you work?). Please
include a CV/resume if you have one.

Thank you,
Michael Kuehn
