The Marine Science Institute (MSI) at UCSB has positions available for 
their very successful touch tank tour programs at The Research 
Experience & Education Facility (REEF).

The REEF at MSI is seeking qualified volunteer marine science guides.  
REEF guides will be responsible for leading tours of the facility, which 
introduces K-16 visitors and the general public to our local marine 
environment and the relevant research we conduct.  Volunteers will also 
assist with animal husbandry and in the care and maintenance of The REEF.

Training will be provided.
Basic background in the following areas helpful, as position includes:

ÿ Working with groups as an informal educator,

ÿ Basic knowledge of marine biology, geography/geology, and marine 
conservation/environmental issues.

ÿ Assist in marine animal husbandry. This includes feeding, cleaning and 
maintaining facility, aquaria, displays and equipment, and assisting in 
the collection of organisms.

ÿ Must be highly motivated, detail oriented and reliable.

Paid positions_/* may*/_ be available after successful completion of 
volunteer commitment.

Shifts are:
*TUESDAY, WEDS, &THURS. 9-11, 11-1 & 3-5
FRIDAYS-12:00-2:00 pm
SATURDAYS-11-12, 12-1, 1-2 (1-hour shifts)*
You must be able to commit to a minimum of 2 two-hour shifts per week.  
There will also be mandatory trainings and workshops TBA.
