Biology Undergraduate List biology-u-l at mentor.lscf.ucsb.edu
Tue Oct 30 12:23:00 PDT 2007

Though this is a non major applicable course several of you may be
interested in fulfilling a GE Area E course (Culture and Thought),
co-taught by MCDB Professor Kenneth Kosik. -For your friends and
roommates they could have it count towards a GE Area C course instead
(students cannot apply the course to both Areas C and E. Only one of the
two GE Areas will apply to their General Education program).

*Memory: Bridging the Humanities and Neuroscience*, 3 Units
*TR 200- 315pm, LSB 1001*, Instructors Kenneth Kosik and Dominique
Jullian
*Tri-listed: Can be taken as:* MCDB 27 (enrl #61614) or French 40X (Enrl
#61622) or Comparative Literature 27 (enrl # 61630)

*GE: Fulfills Area C (Science, Math, and Technology) or Area E (Culture
and Thought).*
Students will be able to have it apply for one or the other.

*Description: *Neurosciences now ask some of the same profound questions
posed by writers, artists and philosophers for centuries, thus opening
surprising perspectives on memory and morality, dreams and perception,
identity and agency. This course explores this emerging concordance.
