*Join Jennifer Smith, Programs Director for the Tahoe-Baikal Institute,
to learn more about the 18^th annual Summer Environmental Exchange in
Siberia and the Sierra Nevada. *

Info Session to be held Monday, December 3rd at 1:15pm in the Bren Hall
Seminar Room (1424). *
*The Program: *
* TBI leads a unique place-based educational program at Lake Tahoe
and Lake Baikal aimed at undergraduate and graduate students as
well as young professionals.
* Seventeen participants from North America, Russia, and other parts
of the world spend five weeks in California and five weeks in
Siberia studying the current watershed management issues at these
two unique lakes.
* Multi-disciplinary curriculum includes small group investigative
projects, ecological restoration work, meeting with local experts
and policy makers, and interactive workshops.
* Program integrates environmental, economic, and social concerns by
blending scientific research, restoration work, and training,
which is guided by top scientists, policy makers, and business
people in both countries.
* Cultural and intellectual exchange among participants facilitates
exploring new perspectives and thinking creatively about
approaches to today's watershed management challenges.
*Program Details:*
*Who: *17 participants from USA, Russia, and other countries. TBI
invites applications from undergraduates and graduate students, recent
graduates, and other young professionals with a demonstrated interest in
the environment and a background in a relevant field such as: Russian
Studies, Environmental Studies, Geography, Resource Economics,
Sociology, Environmental Engineering, Political Science, Biology, Law or
Policy, Ecological Restoration Work, Environmental Activism
*Dates: *Approximately 10 weeks from mid-June to late-August 2008.
*Cost: *Program fee covers travel to/from Tahoe and Baikal, & all food,
lodging, and program expenses. Please see website for details. Financial
