  Student Staff Positions Summer 2007

In making selections, priority will be given to those pursuing a 
bachelor's degree in the sciences, engineering, or mathematics, and U.S. 
citizens or permanent residents. All applicants must be current 
full-time students at UCSB (OR a former participant in the EPSEM Summer 
Institute) and have a major GPA of 2.8 or above. Student who will be 
graduating in June 2007 are also encouraged to apply. Undergraduate

    EPSEM Summer Institute Resident Assistant (6)

*Program Dates: July 15 - July 28, 2007
Estimated Salary: $2,500.00*

The EPSEM Resident Assistants help community college students in their 
transition to college life through the two-week EPSEM Program. The 
Resident Assistant works seven days a week and is on-call 24 hours a 
day. S/he works on a day-to-day basis with students on both a group and 
individual format and provides support, information, and the necessary 
structure to maintain a large group living environment. The Resident 
Assistants also serve as a liaison to refer students in need of 
counseling, medical care, or advising to the EPSEM staff. The EPSEM 
Resident Assistant is part of a larger team and is responsible for the 
implementation of academic, social, developmental, and recreational 
programs. In addition, they also enforce EPSEM policies and inform the 
EPSEM Directors of any violations.


    Summer Institute in Mathematics and Science Resident Assistant (4)

*Program Dates: August 12 - August 24, 2007
Estimated Salary: $2,500.00*

The SIMS Resident Assistants help incoming frosh in their transition to 
college life through the two-week SIMS Program. The Resident Assistant 
works six days a week and is on-call 24 hours a day. S/he works on a 
day-to-day basis with students on both a group and individual format and 
provides support, information, and the necessary structure to maintain a 
large group living environment. Each Resident Assistant is assigned a 
living area and works collectively with other Resident Assistants to 
create a harmonious climate within the apartments. The Resident 
Assistants also serve as a liaison to refer students in need of 
counseling, medical care, or advising to the SIMS staff. The SIMS 
Resident Assistant is part of a larger team and is responsible for the 
implementation of academic, social, developmental, and recreational 
programs. In addition, they also enforce SIMS policies and inform the 
SIMS Directors of any violations.
