Undergraduate Research Assistant needed to work in algal ecology lab at UCSB
We are seeking two motivated and independent life sciences
undergraduates to assist in research that will examine how biodiversity
affects ecological processes. Students would work in the laboratory of
Bradley Cardinale, in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and marine
Biology, and will be partially responsible for experiments that use
freshwater algae to examine diversity's effect on primary production.
Work duties would include setting up and maintaining experimental
apparatus, collecting and storing algae samples, counting cells using a
microscope and data entry. Student must be able to commit to 15 hours
per week.
Applicants should be life sciences majors who have taken courses in
biology, ecology or evolution. Interest in ecological questions is a
bonus. Training in use of equipment and algae identification will be
provided.
Application deadline is Wednesday, March 14th. Applicants must e-mail a
letter of interest that details why they would like to work in an
