Hello Restoration Volunteers,

Come join us this Saturday, January 27th from 9am-12 noon for a Habitat
Restoration Workday at Coal Oil Point Reserve. Coal Oil Point Reserve is
located just west of UCSB and Isla Vista and is an ecologically important area
that is home to a number of endangered and threatened species. This Saturday
will be planting natives, removing non-native plants, and maintaining
previously planted areas. This is a great opportunity for all community
members who want to improve water quality and the local habitat for all the
critters that live here!

We will meet at 9am at the creek crossing along Venoco Road. Venoco Rd. is an
unmarked road off of Storke Rd located between Phelps Rd and El Collegio. It
has a white metal gate at its entrance and is in between the West Campus Family
Housing and Ocean Meadows Golf Course. Please park on the right side of the
road (off the road), past the Arizona Crossing (where the creek goes under the
road). We suggest carpooling to cut down on the number of cars on site. Tools,
gloves, water and snacks will be provided. If you plan to join us, but have
never been here before please email Tara at longwell at lifesci.ucsb.edu and I
will send you a map.

So come out for some good restoration fun!!

To R.S.V.P, or if you have any questions please email or call me (see info
below) or Darlene Chirman at 805.455.3541. If you have a large group be sure
to R.S.V.P. far in advance so we can be sure to accommodate you.

Hope to see you there!

P.S. – It is best if you wear STURDY SHOES. No flip flops or sandals! Pants
are also good if you are walking amongst weeds, but not always necessary. If
it is hot and sunny remember a hat and sun screen, or layers if it is cold.
There are NO BATHROOM facilities on site. I repeat, THERE ARE NO BATHROOM
FACILITIES ON SITE!!!
