Wages: $9/hr, 10hrs/wk

This fall, the Department of Geography and Associated Students 
Environmental Affairs Board will be opening an internship for an 
Ecological Coalition Coordinator.  This student intern will be primarily 
responsible for networking with student groups across the campus, 
founding an ecological coalition, and increasing communication to reduce 
duplicated efforts as well as expanding upon current and possible future 
collaborations between organizations.  This internship may also have a 
role in building a network between the student organizations and 
ecologically based staff and faculty organizations, and in the long-term 
with community-based organizations.

 

This job will require someone who can multitask, balance priorities, and 
who can delegate well to volunteers as the intern will be working with 
many different organizations and as this is the start to something new, 
will have many possible directions they can pursue.  There will be 
guidance from several staff members and student leaders, however this 
person will also need to be able to develop their own goals and vision, 
and by able to take initiative and leadership in their own projects. 

 

*Specific Duties:* volunteer coordination, coalition building, 
marketing, publicity and promotional writing, fundraising, event 
organization and management

 

*Minimum Requirements: *

-Past involvement in student or community organizing

-Understanding of sustainability and ecological principles

-Personal Commitment to sustainability and the environment in your 
personal practices

-Effective Communicator

-Experience taking personal initiative on a project

-Must be able to attend meetings on Tuesday from 7-8:30pm, be open to 
meetings on nights and weekends and have at least 8hrs/wk of time during 
business hours (M-F 8-5)

-Must be a UCSB student and in Santa Barbara from Fall 2007-Spring 2007. 

 

*Preferred Requirements: *

-Demonstrating experience building coalitions and collaborations

-Experience working with campus staff on projects

-Experience with: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Publisher, and/or 
In Design
